An associate at ARHM&F, Martha Mora-Fernandez specializes in the area of commercial and business litigation and arbitration. Ms. Mora-Fernandez's experience includes federal and state court cases, including cases involving business, real estate and corporate disputes, fraud, financial institution law, class actions, the enforcement of judgment and injunctions, and appeals. Before joining ARHM&F, Ms. Mora-Fernandez was a litigation associate at Holland & Knight LLP. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Mora-Fernandez served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable R. Fred Lewis of the Florida Supreme Court.
Ms. Mora-Fernandez earned her B.A. cum laude from the University of Miami in 2000, and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2003. While in law school, she interned for the Honorable William P. Dimitrouleas, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida. Ms. Mora-Fernandez was also a Legal Research & Writing Law Fellow at Georgetown, a Senior Writing Fellow for Georgetown's Writing Center, and a Senior Article and Line Editor of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal. During her third year at Georgetown Law, Ms. Mora-Fernandez was selected to participate in the Appellate Litigation Clinic. Her representation involved co-authoring the brief on the merits and assistance in preparing for oral argument before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. See United States v. Pleasants, 71 Fed. Appx. 182 (4th Cir. 2003) (granting federal prisoner a certificate of appealability to challenge district court's order denying motion for federal habeas relief but affirming district court's denial of relief under 28 U.S.C. § 2255).
Ms. Mora-Fernandez is admitted to practice before the state courts of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She is currently serving on the Florida Bar's Eleventh Circuit Grievance Committee. Ms. Mora-Fernandez also currently serves Georgetown University as an Advisor to the Law Alumni Council. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Dade County Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, Cuban-American Bar Association and the Spellman-Hoeveler American Inn of Court. Ms. Mora-Fernandez has served as a judge for the University of Miami School of Law's Advanced Moot Court Competition as well as Florida State University College of Law's oral arguments for first-year law students. Ms. Mora-Fernandez is also a volunteer in the Justice Teaching Institute, which is a law-related education program that partners volunteers with local schools to help teach students about the courts and the Constitution.
Ms. Mora-Fernandez has been recognized as one of Florida's "Up and Comers" by Florida Legal Elite and and as a "Rising Star" in Florida Super Lawyers (2010).
