One of the founding partners of ARHM&F, Daniel O. Mena brings a high level of expertise in the area of commercial disputes, both in litigation and arbitration. Mr. Mena is experienced in a broad range of complex federal, state and international cases, including cases involving contracts, fraud, real estate disputes, corporate dissolutions, financial institution law, banking regulations, probate, and the enforcement of judgments and injunctions.
Mr. Mena has represented clients in complex jury trials, domestic and international arbitrations, and federal and state court cases decided under the laws of foreign nations. In arbitration, Mr. Mena has represented clients before the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He has also represented clients in several state and federal court appeals, as well as served as lead counsel in internal corporate investigations and represented institutional clients being investigated by governmental regulatory authorities. Mr. Mena has also served as an expert witness before foreign tribunals and as an arbitrator.
Mr. Mena holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and minor in criminal justice from Florida International University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He has also studied at the University of Salamanca in Spain, as well as completed an internship at the United States Attorney's Office in Philadelphia. Additionally, Mr. Mena is a graduate of the "Leadership Miami" program of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
A member of the Florida Bar, Mr. Mena is admitted to practice in all state trial and appellate courts of the State of Florida, as well as before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Florida, Middle District of Florida and Northern District of Florida. He is currently serving a second term on the Florida Bar's Civil Procedure Rules Committee. He is a member of the American Bar Association, where he serves on the International Litigation Committee, the Dade County Bar Association, where he serves on the Banking & Corporate Litigation Law Committee, and the Cuban American Bar Association. Mr. Mena also routinely serves as a judge for the University of Miami School of Law's Moot Court Board and has authored articles on cross-border disputes along with the section of a Florida Bar treatise on defaults and default judgments.
Among his recognitions, Mr. Mena was acknowledged as one of Florida's "Up and Coming Legal Elite" and has since been recognized as a Florida "Super Lawyer" by Florida Super Lawyer Magazine and one of Florida's top attorneys by Florida Legal Elite.
